WEBINAR - 2015 Elections in El Salvador: Perspectives for International Solidarity

Evento

Unfortunately this webinar already happened.  Stay tuned for more exciting opportunities to connect with Salvadorans and CISPES.

With the new leftist Sánchez Cerén administration not a year into its first term, Salvadorans are heading back to the polls for the March 1st 2015 mid-term elections, voting for mayors, legislators and representatives of the Central American Parliament. These elections will be critical to determine whether the FMLN government will be able to advance its national agenda of fighting the historical inequality and social exclusion that has driven nearly 300 Salvadorans to migrate to the United States each day.

Join CISPES and US-El Salvador Sister Cities for an exciting webinar discussion. We’ll hear from Marcos Gálvez, President of CRIPDES and member of the MPR-12, a coalition of social organizations in El Salvador that coordinates advocacy actions and projects for social and economic transformation, and from Blancaflor Bonilla, a candidate with the FMLN for the Central American Parliament and representative of the FMLN’s International Relations Secretariat of the FMLN, about what’s at stake in these elections, the current situation on the ground in El Salvador, and the role international solidarity can play.
