2016 CISPES Delegation
Understanding Migration from El Salvador: The Impact of US Policy

The number of refugees from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala has increased sharply over the past several years. On our 2016 delegation, "Understanding Migration from El Salvador: The Impact of US Policy," we seek to better understand the principal causes of migration and to demonstrate our solidarity with migrants and their families, as well as the grassroots movements that are organizing to create social and economic alternatives.

This delegation is a unique opportunity to meet with social movement leaders, organizations that serve victims of the US's racist detention and deportation regime, and members of the FMLN government. Our fact-finding mission will also investigate the extent and impact of the US government's new push to militarize the borders among El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.

Join CISPES in El Salvador this summer to find out how:

• US security & economic policies in Central America is forcing people to migrate
• Border militarization jeopardizes the lives of migrants
• In the face of US intervention, people are organizing to create alternatives to privatization and pro-corporate "development"
