Water for all: Take action today

News

The Salvadoran social movement is calling for international solidarity in their campaign to protect food and water as fundamental human rights in the Constitution. Help them reach their goal of 10,000 signatures on this petition to the Legislative Assembly: sign today!

If you think it's outrageous that over 200,000 households in El Salvador still have no running water while soda bottling plants, luxury housing and shopping malls have access to a seemingly unending quantity, we hope you'll add your voice today. As the United Nations Development Programme aptly puts it, "The scarcity at the heart of the global water crisis is rooted in power, poverty and inequality, not in physical availability."

Fortunately, there are powerful social movements around the world organizing to challenge these unjust systems, including in El Salvador - thank you for helping us heed the call for international solidarity! The clock is running out - this Constitutional reform must be ratified before April 30th or the Salvadoran people will have to wait another six years to try again.

Sign today and your signature will be delivered during a major mobilization for Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22.
