My name is ________, I am resident of __________. I am calling today to encourage Congressperson _________ to sign on to a letter being circulated by Congresswoman Schakowsky to protect democratic institutions in El Salvador. Have you seen it?

The letter closes on Friday at noon so I just wanted to bring it to your attention. As someone committed to peace and social justice in Central America, I encourage Representative ______________ to sign on.

In recent years, the Supreme Court of El Salvador has taken many actions to undermine the progressive government and the country's democratic institutions, especially the autonomous Elections Tribunal. Elections are coming up in 2018 and in 2019 and people are concerned about a pending crisis. Unfortunately, the U.S. Embassy has often taken sides in support of the Supreme Court against the democratically-elected government.

The letter to Secretary of State Tillerson outlines these concerns and calls on the U.S. Ambassador in El Salvador to remain neutral.

Will Congressperson __________________ sign on?

To sign on or for more information, the person to talk to in Congresswoman Schakowsky's office is Aaron Weinberg ([email protected]).
