I want to tell you a quick story about the power of international solidarity.  InSeptember, workers at the National Children's Hospital in San Salvador organized a successful strike, winning long-overdue repairs to the hospital's laundry facilities, which had put both patients' and workers'health at risk.

The union leaders were targeted and the hospital director quickly began the process of firing five members of the Executive Board. The union turned to CISPES, trusting us to deliver the international solidarity they needed. 

When unions and labor-community organizations across the U.S. and Canada responded to the call to support the union, a wonderful thing happened. The dismissals were dropped! Today, all of the union leaders are back to work, taking care of kids and workers in the country's only public children's hospital.
