CISPES denounces brutal murder of Francela Méndez, transgender activist

In response to the brutal murder of transgender activist Francela Méndez on May 31, the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES) expresses the following:
- We extend our deepest condolences and solidarity to Francela's family and to the members of the Alejandría Collective.
- We denounce this deplorable act of violence and the impunity with which it was committed, as well as all violence against the LGBTQI community in the country.
- We support the calls of the Human Rights Ombudsman and many civil society organizations for an immediate and thorough investigation of this case by the Attorney General.
- We affirm our commitment to following this case as it develops and to support any necessary action to pursue justice.
