In just two days President Obama will arrive in El Salvador during his trip to Latin America.

On that same day, the Salvadoran social movement will be out in the streets, demanding that the United States respect Central American sovereignty.

One of the demands is to repeal CAFTA, the free trade agreement between the US and Central America that gives corporations free reign toexploit the people and natural resources of the region--all in the nameof profit.

And if a country dares to take a stand against these injustices-- as El Salvador bravely did when they denied two US mining companies the permits to mine for gold--those corporations can sue the government for hundreds of millions of dollars at the World Bank under CAFTA's "investor protection" clause.

Many of you have been taking action in solidarity with our allies in El Salvador.  Thanks to your phone calls, faxes and emails, Congressional Representatives have taken the FIRST public action against CAFTA since it was passed in 2005!

Hundreds of environmental, labor, and human rights organizations have amplified their call in their own letter - demanding that President Obama follow through with his campaign promise to get rid of these outrageous corporate protections.

Now it's time to make certain that Obama hear these voices during his two short days in El Salvador and we need your support to do it!

Over the next week, we need to raise $3,000.  Your support will fund:

• Taking out an ad in El Salvador's major newspapers, publishing the letter from US Congressional Representatives to President Obama
• Direct support for popular mobilizations in El Salvador during Obama's visit. The social movement's main demands for Central American sovereignty include: repealing CAFTA, closing the US military base in El Salvador, and rejecting Pepe Lobo's repressive, illegitimate regime in Honduras.

For too long, corporate interests have dominated US policy in Latin America.  Donate $100, $50, $25 or whatever other amount you can give todayto put an end to this injustice and support the people of El Salvador who are courageously defending the right to protect their own communities, lands, and people!
