Update: Storms continue, thousands more evacuated
The heavy storm that hit El Salvador last week continued over the weekend . As of Monday afternoon, the storm has caused 32 deaths in El Salvador, mostly due to homes collapsing as a result of mudslides. According to the Director of Civil Protection, over 32,000 people have been evacuated across the country, nearly 22,000 of whom are being housed in emergency shelters. Experts predict that the rains will continue until Tuesday or Wednesday.
Funds raised will be donated to the General Coordinating Office of International Humanitarian Aid which will distribute them to the affected areas and the shelters most in need and provide reports on how donations are spent to ensure transparency.
