2011 was truly a transformative year for the people of El Salvador: from the state asking forgiveness for the massacre at El Mozote, just as it did for the murder of Monseñor Romero, to the approval of nearly 25,000 property titles to campesinos who have been waiting decades to own their land, to the country's first progressive tax reform! CISPES has been there to report on the inspiring changes under the new government every step of the way! We've also been there to mobilize grassroots action in solidarity with the unions, students, and communities who are fighting back against el gran capital (aka the 1%). We've been there to deliver critical analysis of US policy as it develops -- from the alarming agenda of the House Foreign Affairs Committee to the proposed expansion of Plan Colombia to Central America.
