This year,CISPES is celebrating our 30th anniversary! That’s right, CISPES was founded in 1980, a transformative year in El Salvador’s history that saw both the assassination of Archbishop Monseñor Oscar Romero and the founded of the FMLN as a united armed struggle against the military regime backed by the U.S.

 This December, we will be celebrating with big parties across the country. And in true CISPES style, we want to make sure that we are all decked out in some fashionable, revolutionary gear. It’s time for the CISPES 30th anniversary T-shirt!

We are hosting a contest for the anniversary logo design and we are turning to you, the volunteers, members and supporters who have kept CISPES strong for all these years.

Whether you’ve created t-shirt designs before or have the creative itch to try it, go for it!

What we’re looking for:

• An inspiring image of Salvadoran resistance or solidarity. Think mobilization, fists, unity, the Americas, triumph!Check out our last t-shirt with a nurse on strike, throwing a brick at the cops who were attacking the public hospital!) (
• Digital designs as well as scanned hand-drawn images are accepted
• Short, punchy text (short enough that we can do both Spanish and English)
• Some reference to the historic achievement of 30 years of solidarity!
• A design that’s not too complicated to screen print in one color

The winner will receive: acknowledgement of your design on the website, a CD of revolutionary music from El Salvador and a historic, original poster from the 1980s!
