Meet our supporters

Here’s what some of our sustainers say about why they support CISPES!

At its founding, CISPES sparked an outcry over the fact that our taxes and our government's name were being used to slaughter innocent people in El Salvador. The outcry was so powerful it could not be ignored. Today, CISPES uses people power to prevent neoliberal U.S. politicians from undermining the progressive movements in El Salvador.  This ongoing solidarity is unique and extraordinarily precious. Although I have many social justice causes that I participate in and support, I never doubt the importance of supporting CISPES. Being a sustainer with regular contributions is very simple and very satisfying.  - John Braxton (pictured above)

Our CISPES commitment stretches back many years.  The people of El Salvador have a claim on us because the justice and peace they have sought for and fought for have been won at great price.  We believe our financial commitment on a regular, monthly basis is the best way for us to communicate our solidarity.  We also keep the pressure on our own elected representatives here in the States in hopes that our country will recognize and respect the human rights and civil rights and the sovereign rights of the people of El Salvador.  CISPES is our way to tell the people of El Salvador, "You are not alone; and we will support your aspirations." - Patti La Cross and Jim Penczykowski

I'm a CISPES sustainer because the Salvadoran people, the FMLN and the 40 year struggle that they have been engaged in, are an inspiration to me, here in the belly of the beast. Fighting against incredible odds, they are actually changing their conditions for the better. I don't have much money, but I give each month what I can. - Matthew Guldin

Meet some of the sustainers who power our work!

"I am a CISPES supporter because continuing to fight for social justice and a more people-centered country means continuing the dream and sacrifice of thousands of my fellow Salvadorans who died for that vision.” - Padre Carlos, New York City
