Medical Brigade: August 11-25, 2012
Application deadline extended! June 1 for doctors in order to get paperwork turned, and June 15 for all other applicants! Download an application, flyer and information sheet. Since 2009, the Ministry of Health has implemented important new programs to guarantee access to health care for all Salvadorans, regardless of income or employment, while revamping their health care model to reflect preventative and community-based care, and an emphasis on women's health. Click here to read a first-hand account of the Community Health Teams in action! These exciting new programs require a tremendous amount of personnel and supplies, and the Ministry of Health has issued a call for support from the international medical community! On this brigade, we will provide direct medical care to targeted communities and begin linking hospitals, universities, nurses' unions and other organizations of health care professionals with the Ministry of Health and public health care unions in El Salvador. Join the brigade and lend a hand to this international effort!
