Last week, thousands of allies like you joined together to put Pacific Rim Mining Corporation in the hot seat, demanding they drop their outrageous lawsuit against El Salvador and withdraw plans for a deadly gold mine.

In a flurry of activity across North America, CISPES:

- Flooded the office of Thomas Shrake, CEO of Pacific Rim with over 250 faxes, decrying the environmental, human rights, and public health concerns surrounding their proposed mine.  (There's still time to send a fax: just click here !)  

- Led simultaneous demonstrations in 6 cities across the US and Canada, including at Pacific Rim's headquarters in Vancouver, B.C. (Anyone care for a nice cold bottle of cyanide water? )

But we won't stop there.  Now it is time to bring our solidarity directly to the communities in El Salvador. Can we count on your support for our upcoming delegation?

It is imperative that those hit hardest by corporate schemes and free trade policies directly confront those in power. That's why we flew two community organizers from Cabañas, El Salvador up to Washington, DC to challenge Members of Congress about the dangerous lawsuits that they made possible by signing the US-Central American Free Trade Agreement (some were pretty shocked!).

Salvadorans in the US who have been forced to leave their home countryare also critical to turning this system around. That's why CISPES isorganizing our first Radical Roots Delegation!

On June 18th, twelve Salvadoran-American youth organizers, whoseparents were forced to flee the U.S.' military and economic wars, willbe traveling to El Salvador, to connect with their family's history andstruggle for justice.  This is also CISPES first delegation to thecommunities in Cabanas that are leading the resistance to gold mining.
