CISPES marches at the opening of the US Social Forum in Atlanta

CISPES brought a delegation to the U.S. Social Forum in Atlanta from June 27 - July 1 and participated in a variety of workshops. Part of our goal while at the social forum is to raise awareness about recent attacks on the social movement in El Salvador, about the U.S. support for such repression through institutions like the ILEA, and about the shift to transnational forms of policing and surveillance. To that end we gathered signatures for a petition 1000 friends of streets vendors which supports one marginalized sector in El Salvador that has born the brunt of of state repression in the last year.
